Champions of Tomorrow 2024: A Dazzling Start to the New Dance Year

Champions of Tomorrow ,held from 5th to 7th January 2024, marked the inauguration of the dance calendar for the new year and it did not disappoint.

We express our sincere appreciation to everyone who took part in and enjoyed the weekend celebrations at Champions of Tomorrow 2024. Our thanks also go out to the committed officials, adjudicators, and the entire diligent team whose tireless efforts played a crucial role in the resounding success of the weekend.

In terms of facts and figures, the event was run over three days with over 5500 entries, a  renowned panel of adjudicators , 2 DJs and 2 scrutineers ensuring a fair and entertaining competition. A staggering 74 collective hours of competitions enthralled the audience and more than 3000 trophies were awarded in three separate areas. Champions of Tomorrow 2024 attracted participants from 18 countries, showcasing the global appeal of ballroom dancing. Dancers from around the world flew in to compete on the prestigious Blackpool floor, making it a truly international affair.

The Winter Gardens, renowned as the home of ballroom dancing, once again lived up to its reputation. The venue's rich history, mixed with the shiny new facilities, set the stage for a lively atmosphere.

The Empress Ballroom, adorned with its grand chandeliers and exquisite ceiling plus the recently added modern Conference and Exhibition Centre which proved to be a valuable addition, hosting exhibitors and vendors on the ground floor, along with a second ballroom with full sized floor upstairs.

The commitment of the dancers was evident, as they had tirelessly prepared for this event, even during the festive period. Competitions kicked off as early as 8am, extending until midnight. The energy throughout the weekend was nothing short of electric, with friends, fans and parents passionately cheering for their favourite dancers. The Champions of Tomorrow Event showcased the diverse world of dancing, featuring competitors of all ages and skill levels. The competitions included couples, solos, teacher-student, and pro-am categories, spanning Ballroom, Latin, Sequence, and American Smooth and Rhythm styles.

As the curtains drew on the Champions of Tomorrow Event 2024, the anticipation for the next edition was already building.  The  2025 edition is scheduled for 3rd to 5th January, so mark your diaries now!

Champions of Tomorrow  2024 set a high standard for the competitions to come this year. It was a dazzling showcase of skill, dedication, and international camaraderie, making it a truly unforgettable experience for participants and spectators alike.

How depressing that 3000 trophies were given out - unless they were made from sustainable materials and could be recycled or composted…. Were they?

Absolutely not depressing if you are one of the dancers sometimes as young as 8 who has worked for weeks and weeks to compete in this amazing competition. Absolutely not depressing if you were so unbelievably proud of the trophy you won and will keep it forever! How depressing that someone has to only see ‘their’ negative in such positive and inspiration for so so many.
