Blackpool Junior Dance Festival

The Blackpool Junior Dance Festival has been running since 1947 with young dancers from all over the World visiting Blackpool to compete. The Festival, traditionally held in the magnificent Blackpool Tower Ballroom, celebrated it's 50th birthday in 2007 and incorporates the British Junior Open Championships. As tradition states, the Festival always commences on Easter Monday finishing seven days later on the Sunday. There are two age groups of children – Juveniles (6 to under 12 years) and Juniors (12 to under 16 years). There are three branches of dancing – Latin American, Ballroom and Sequence. Over the seven days there are 29 competitions, four Team Matches and three Formation Competitions. In 2009 there were over 31 countries represented at the Festival
with 448 couples, seven Sequence Formation Teams and 89 Latin/Ballroom Formation Team's entered in the various events. In 2010 the event was held in The Empress Ballroom at The Winter Gardens.
